The Rural Health Research Colloquium organising committee is pleased to invite you to the 2nd Rural Health Research Colloquium.
This event, expected to attract an audience of more than 100 people, will be held in Tamworth, beginning with the Welcome Reception on the 15th (venue TBA) and continuing with the full conference program on the 16th and 17th May, 2007, held in the UDRH (University Department of Rural Health) Education Centre, Tamworth Base Hospital. The Colloquium is being organised to provide a forum for presenting and discussing research of relevance to improving rural health.
Key Colloquium Themes
The Colloquium program is comprised of plenary sessions, paper presentation and discussant feedback and posters to provide a forum for discussing rural health research. This will include research that:
- Addresses the future health and health service needs of rural populations
- Presents innovative service and intervention approaches which will meet the needs of rural health population in the future
- Enhances research capacity in rural areas
Research that addresses any of the following thematic areas will be considered:
- Enabling individuals and communities to better manage their health
- Achieving improved workforce planning and education to address future health needs
- Addressing social, economic and environmental determinants of health through improved inter-sectoral collaboration
- Developing effective management systems to improve service quality and safety
- Developing effective models to promote Aboriginal Health and community engagement
- Designing health services around people's needs
- Engaging individuals and communities in planning and decision-making
- Integrating health and other kinds of services at the community level
- Preparing for, and responding to, emerging public health issues and disasters

Call for Papers, Presentations and Posters Authors are invited and encouraged to submit an abstract of original material for consideration by the Rural Health Research Colloquium Committee. Abstracts for contributed papers will be accepted until the 30th November 2006. Please register and submit your abstract on-line. Note, you may elect to pay for registration later.
